  2. Physically able to perform the work.
  3. Have a high school diploma or a GED.
  4. Have a valid Texas driver’s license.
  5. Your own personal transportation.

These requirements must be met to apply for this program.

Apprentices are required to work for a union contractor for on-the-job training with a journeyman. Jobs are acquired through the school.

Classes for the apprenticeship program run from the end of August through the middle of May. Classes are two nights a week from 5:00 P.M. through 9:00 P.M. The nights you come to class depend on the schedule and year of apprenticeship.

Tuition and book fees are covered through a $10.00 per week assessment from each apprentice. This amount will be automatically deducted from your paycheck. However, an apprentice must have lived in Texas for at least a year or you will be required to pay out-of-state tuition, which runs around $200.00 per semester. We must have proof that you have lived in Texas for a full year before date of indenture, so please be prepared to show this proof (such as a lease, utility bill, etc.)

After 400 hours worked and six months, an apprentice is covered under the union health insurance plan.
