The Dallas Joint Plumbing, Pipefitting and HVACR Apprenticeship Training Program is a five-year program. The basic criteria are that:
These requirements must be met to apply for this program. Apprentices are required to work for a union contractor for on-the-job training with a journeyman. Jobs are acquired through the school. Classes for the apprenticeship program run from the end of August through the middle of May. Classes are two nights a week from 5:00 P.M. through 9:00 P.M. The nights you come to class depend on the schedule and year of apprenticeship. Tuition and book fees are covered through a $10.00 per week assessment from each apprentice. This amount will be automatically deducted from your paycheck. However, an apprentice must have lived in Texas for at least a year or you will be required to pay out-of-state tuition, which runs around $200.00 per semester. We must have proof that you have lived in Texas for a full year before date of indenture, so please be prepared to show this proof (such as a lease, utility bill, etc.) After 400 hours worked and six months, an apprentice is covered under the union health insurance plan.
THE ABOVE IS BASED ON THE CURRENT JOURNEYMAN WAGE RATE. APPRENTICE WAGES INCREASE WHEN JOURNEYMAN WAGES INCREASE. APPRENTICES MUST WORK AT LEAST 850 HOURS BEFORE THE FIRST INCREASE AND 850 HOURS EVERY SIX MONTHS AFTER THAT TO RECEIVE AN INCREASE IN PAY. FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE CALL 214-341-6199 The Dallas Joint Apprentice Training Program does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, nationality, and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, and other school administered programs. |
